Ghana to receive 1.5Million doses of Astrazeneca vaccines from Germany

Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, has assured Ghanaians that we would be receiving 1.5 million doses of the Astrazeneca vaccine from Germany.

This development occured after President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, had a bilateral meeting with the German Chancellor during his visit to the country.

"One of the things that came out had to do with the vaccines", he stated.

Addressing the press corps at the Jubilee House on Monday, August 30th, 2021, Mr. Arhin stated that the German Chancellor made it known that Germany would be giving at least 70 million COVID-19 vaccines to Africa.

Out of the 70 million doses of Astrazeneca, the German Chancellor made it known that Ghana would be receiving 1.2 million doses of the vaccine. The number later increased to 1.5 million doses.

"A few hours ago, i just got confirmation from the President that this has increased from 1.2 million to 1.5 million."

Mr. Eugene Arhin also revealed that steps have been taken to bring those vaccines back to Ghana.

"According to the President, a plane has been dispatched immediately to go to Germany to take delivery of the 1.5 million doses of Astrazeneca vaccines."
