Denkyira Tegyamoaso Residents Get New CHIPS Compound

The Chief and residents of Denkyira Tegyamoso a predominantly farming community in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality of the central will no longer embark on journeys to have access to health care services.

This is as a result of Community Self-Help initiative that has led to the construction of a brand-new Community Health Planning Services (CHPS) Compound. The facility is expected to serve residents in Denkyira Tegyamoso and it's surrounding communities.

For years, the residents in this community had to trek miles to Dunkwa-on-Offin to access health services, which posed a lot threat to lives.

The provisions of this facility was constructed through communal labour by the Chief and residents of the community with the support from Nana Dufie a native of the town who is in abroad.

Speaking in an interview with Mohammed Radiu Dinn Rasko, Nana Okofo Kweku Preko II, the chief Denkyira Tegyamoso said, Accessing healthcare in the community was dangerous especially to pregnant women and children as they have to be carried on motorbike through deplorable road to access hospital at Dunkwa-on-Offin.

He said, when he assumed office years ago, he told the residents that due to the limited resources available to government and the assembly, it was practically impossible to provide all the needed social amenities at once.

"The community embarked on the project through self-help augment by the Chief and the residents in the community" he added.

He then appeal to the citizens of Denkyira Tegyamoso home and abroad to come and support the development of the community.

Some of the residents in Tegyamoso community expressed gratitude to Director of Health Upper Denkyira East Dr. Daniel Acorlor for successful commissioned of their CHPS Compound.

They said will not longer trek miles to have access to health care services.


Meanwhile the Municipal Director of Health Upper Denkyira East Dr. Daniel Acorlor urged the people in the area to fully patronize the CHPS Compound, emphasizing that this is the surest way the health staff at the facility can be motivated to give out their best to the people.
