Alopecia: The Silent Hair Eater

Alopecia is an Autoimmune disorder that affects both men and women of all races. There are seven types of alopecia caused by different factors. Alopecia Totalis, Alopecia Areata,androgen Alopecia and Alopecia Universalis are some of the types of alopecia.

Among the types of alopecia, androgen alopecia is the most common which occurs in 50-55 percent of me and probably about 40 percent of women all through the age of menopause.

Some of the symptoms in men include thin hair in the front part causing baldness, the softness of hairu and thinness from its usual texture.Alopecia can be very distressing but not the end of the world. In the case of alopecia, early detection and treatment is key in the treatment process. Once thevsymptoms are noticed, one should see a specialist immediately. When the type of alopecia is detected treatment options will be shown. Some treatment options include, hair transplant and surgical treatment. The matter of alopecia has become topical after the conduct of Will Smith at that Oscar.Since then, many women suffering from the condition are opening up about it.

September every year is set aside to create awareness for the condition and educate people about treatment options.
