The AstraZeneca vaccine arrived in the country on the 26th of the month April as part of the President's measures to fight the COVID-19 virus. Many people rose against the Vaccines when it arrived in the country. Many noted that the vaccine is manufactured mainly to wipe off the entire generation of Africa. The President proving these claims wrong took the first jab of the vaccine.
Following these misinformation, the Regional Director for the Efia-Nkwanta Regional hospital has noted how health workers at the hospital were afraid to the vaccine. Dr. Tambil noted that the hospital received 800 doses of the vaccine but about 50% of 1,300 workers at the hospital made themselves available for the vaccine
“It is so bad that a lot of staff are not showing eagerness to be vaccinated. This has to do with the misinformation and conspiracy theory circulating on social media. There is a lot of misinformation out there. Nevertheless, we are hoping to get most of our staff vaccinated". He made this known when he was exclusively on Citi News
