The country has been divided over some Sputnik Covid-19 vaccines the country is alleged to have bought. News has been going round that the country secured several doses of the Sputnik vaccine at $19 a dose. Many have queried why this happened because the vaccine originally goes for $10.
On Asempa FM’s ‘Ekosii Sen’ today, Thursday, June 10, 2021, former Deputy Health Minister made some revelations that he gave President Akufo-Addo during the heat of the Covid-19 pandemic. According to Okoe Boye, the opposition is spreading rumors that hold no substance. He noted that people like Sammy Gyamfi are spreading issues that have no substance.
He noted that the country has not paid for any vaccines yet. He maintained that prices of vaccines vary depending on relationship between countries. As the conversation went on Dr. Okoe Boye revealed a suggestion he gave to President Akufo-Addo some time ago.
“At a time that vaccines were being developed, I know of some Ghanaians who are not ministers but flew to take the Pfizer vaccine in the US. Some of us taught that as the president anything could happen. Me, Okoe Boye, today I will confess that I am one of the people who suggested to Akufo-Addo to fly to the US and take the jab. Akufo-Addo insisted that until the vaccine came here, he will never take the jab” Okoe Boye said
He added that there is nothing shady going on as many are saying. He maintained that the president is doing everything possible to heal the country and get everyone vaccinated.
