9 Healthy Ways to Start Your Day

Whether you're a morning person or not, our routines set the tone for our entire day. If your morning is rushed and stressful, it sets a negative precedent for the whole day. On the other hand, if you spend extra time starting your day with intention, you'll be happier and more productive.

1. Make your bed

Living in a clean and organized home will help you feel more relaxed and energized as well as give you an extra sense of self-confidence.

2. Exercise

Morning workouts rev up your metabolism and provide happiness-producing endorphins for your day. Just make sure to pack your gym bag the night before so you don't have to worry about it in the morning. Even 5 minutes of exercise will provide you with feel-good hormones for the rest of the day.

3. Meditate

There are many different types of meditation, including reflective and creative meditation. You can begin a yoga practice to knock out meditation and exercise first thing in the morning as well!

4. Morning pages

Like meditation, this practice can help you clear through difficult thoughts and prioritize your day. It can also help you come up with new ideas for the rest of the week.

5. Avoid your phone

It can be tempting to get on your phone first thing in the morning and swipe through all your social media accounts. Switch quickly between different tasks and train your brain to indulge itself with distractions. Instead, try an activity that improves your focus, like meditating or reading a book.

6. Treat yourself

Whether it's a high-quality coffee, a delicious breakfast, or a luxurious moisturizer, there's nothing wrong with starting the day with a special treat. Treat yourself to something special in the morning to help you feel energized and ready for the day ahead of you.

7. Have a glass of water

Drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning rehydrates you and revs up your metabolism. Add lemon for extra detoxifying power. After a full night of sleep, many of us wake up dehydrated from a lack of fluid in our system.

8. Spend sometimes outdoor

Spending time outside is proven to improve your mood, and it's a great time to fit in outdoor time before we get swept up in work and duties at the office.

9. Prep the night before

Pack your lunch, plan your outfit and make your to-do list - the more preparation you do, the more time you'll have for relaxation and focus.

Bottom line

Setting up a healthy morning routine will make your day happier and more productive, improving your overall quality of life. Although incorporating all of these practices into your morning routine may not be possible, even just one or two will improve the quality of your day. There are many different healthy ways to start your day.
