Pollution is the presence of containments that can have grave effects on the natural environment and the world's most prominent pollution are air and water pollution even though other forms of pollution like light, sound, and soil pollution as well. These effects can have a long-lasting negative impact on the health of humans, plants, animals, or the whole ecosystem. Air pollution is mainly caused by the burning of fossil fuels and the agents of such fuels are vehicles either on land, sea, or in the air, and burning power plants and factories. Some household activities like smoking of tobacco products, stoves, ovens, and fireplaces can also cause air pollution but on a lower level.
The contamination of the air can cause problems like difficulty in breathing, and worsening of asthma. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the pollution of air causes seven million premature deaths every year and ninety-one to ninety-nine percent of the world's population lives in places with contaminated air. The World Health Organisation (WHO) monitors the world's most polluted countries by evaluating the concentration of fine particulate matter 2.5 (PM) and these refers to the small particles in the air that are 2.5 microns or less in diameter. The cleanest countries in the world are evaluated by the Environmental Performance Index (EPI) and these places have high air quality, clean water, and strong environmental initiatives. Some of these countries are Denmark and France but we'll be looking at the world's top five most polluted countries today with their average particulate matter and population.
The top five among them are Bangladesh which has an average PM of 83.3 and population of 167,885,689, followed by Pakistan with a PM of 65.81 and a population of 229,488,994, Mongolia with 62 PM and 3,378,078,l population, Afghanistan with PM of 58.8 and population of 40,754,388, and India with 58.08 PM and the population of 1,406,631,776. Other countries which are known to be polluted after these five countries are Indonesia, Bahrain, Nepal, Uzbekistan, Iraq, China, United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Kuwait.
