The world body in charge of global health is the World Health Organization(WHO). She has Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus as it current director. There are countries approving drugs as a potential cure or as treatment for covid-19.
The first country on the list is an island nation called Madagascar. From here an institute known as Malagasy Institute of Applied Research (MIAR) developed a herbal medicine which contains Artemisia - a plant cultivated on the island and used in the fight against malaria.
The country's President Andry Rajoelina unveiled the miracle cure a national television and urged his citizens to use it. After the announcement large gatherings formed in the Capital, Antananarivo in a mud rush for the touted herbal cure.
He subsequently cancelled all restrictions and schools to reopen.
The World Health Organization in statement says there is no prof of a cure for covid 19 even as the country's president said the herbal concoction cured 2 people.
In the United States of America, a drug called remdesivir manufactured by Gilead gets emergency Food and Drugs Authority, authorisation to treat covid 19.
Remdesivir went through rigorous testing more than the concocted herbal drug in Madagascar and yet the World Health Organization did not approve of it at the moment even as the US did- the US is by far the largest donor to the WHO.
The US has the first class laboratories in the world than Madagascar a country with just little over 6 ventilators- a critical breathing apparatus.
The World Health Organization is not discriminating Madagascar because they are poor but because the sciences don't back their claims, a herbal tea purported to have cure 2 people is not a scientific proof enough to be touted as a cure.
If the World Health Organization is discriminating against poor countries the US should by now got it drug remdesivir approve by the WHO and in absence the WHO is a remarkable world body according Antonio Gutterres, the UN's Secretary General.
