Ghana Health Service (GHS) Celebrates Child Health Service

The Ghana health service is celebrating child health and promoting child health service.

This year's edition of the exercise comes with the theme " sustaining child health service in the midst of Covid-19.

However, Madam Yvonne Turkson who is a Senior community health nurse at lemusson Community hospital in the Gomoa East of the Central Region said this exercise is organised annually to promote the health of children and educate the nursing mother's on how to breastfeed their babies and the kind of foods to be given to their children every month.

Meanwhile, she also said every nursing mother should breastfeed their babies within the first six months without any other food because the breastmilk contains all the necessary nutrients which helps the baby mentally and it protects them from diseases.

Moreover, some nursing mothers hinted the benifits of bringing their children to weighing especially on this special day.

Vaccines protect our children from Yellow fever, polio, measles and other diseases and also help us the mothers not to go to hospital frequently, they noted. 

Most of the nursing mothers commended Madam Yvonne for her good work in the community.
