Bringing bare the facts and exposing the ambiguous statements issued by Lawyer Bede Ziedeng in his maiden speech on the floor of parliament regarding the current state of the Lawra Municipal Hospital.
It is a fact that this piece might not fall on "good soil" especially readers who might wear political lenses. But this piece depicts the true state of the Lawra Municipal Hospital contrary to the Member of Parliament for Lawra Constituency, Hon Bede Ziedeng's maiden statement on the August House of Parliament of Ghana.
The Lawra hospital, the oldest hospital in the Upper West Region which was established in the year 1928 with its Vision as _"We Envision People Living Longer And Are Healthier, Wealthier Lives In The Lawra District"_ and has its Mission as _"To Provide Quality And Comprehensive Primary Health Care To All Persons Living In The Lawra District Through a Well Motivated Staff, And Collaborating With The Relevant Stakeholders To Implement Approved Health Sector Policies And Managing Prudently The Available Resources For Provision Of Health Services"._
It's indeed gratifying to note that, the hospital has since existed to achieve its Mission until the early part of 2014, where it met some challenges of having a resident Doctor, rendering the hospital in the hands of the then District Director of Health Services who acted as the Medical Superintendent until 2017, when he left to serve in the August House of parliament as a Member of Parliament for Dafiama-Busia-Issa Constituency. The "no drugs" syndrome in the hospital originated from the debt left by the now law maker.
Again from 2017, saw Dr Justine Dakorah as the substantive Medical Superintendant who tried to manage those challenges until 2019, where he left for further studies to come back and serve the Municipality. It was during this period that the hospital started experiencing absence of a medical doctor.
