Ghana Record 2 Cases of Covid-19 Omicron Variant

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) says it has detected the COVID-19 Omicron variant at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).


The Covid-19 Omicron Variant is one of the most dangerous type of the global pandemic disease to have ever evolved since it has the greatest transmission rate and less sucseptible to the covid vaccines


"There is the emergence of the new variant and I must say, through the robust testing at the Kotoka International Airpot, Ghana has detected the Omicron variant already and the cases have come mainly from Nigeria and South Africa.


The very first case that was detected during our sequencing was on the 21 of November”, Dr Patrick Kumah Aboagye lamented.


The Covid-19 Omicron Variant ever since it was detected by Scientists has become a massive headache to all over the world and thus receiving global attention.

Countries over the world have tried and continue to secure their lives with the Covid-19 vaccines to avoid the massive death and scare that occurred last year.


Countries all over the world had suffered massive fatalities as well as a decline in the economy that was once resilient due to the disease.


Its almost two years now since the global pandemic emanated from Wuhan Province in China and considering the Christmas festivity, a lot of migrants outside the country visit Ghana to celebrate the biggest occasion with friends, families or on the grounds of tourism.


The Ghana Health Service as well as the Ministry of Health and many other concerned stakeholders had work assyduously with pragmatic approach and contingency measures outlined to halt the spread of Covid-19 leading to deaths


As at December 1st 2021 the cumulative cases of Covid-19 statistics among the 16 regions of Ghana are stated below ;


1. Greater Accra Region-70,673

2. Ashanti Region- 20,717

3. Western Region- 7,535

4. Eastern Region- 6,595

5. Central Region- 4,859

6. Volta Region- 5,389

7. Northern Region- 1761

8. Bono Region- 2122

9.Bono East Region- 2555

10. Upper East Region- 1484

11. Western North Region- 1006

12. Ahafo Region- 1058

13. Upper West Region- 743

14.Oti Region- 848

15. Northern East Region- 283

16. Savanna Region-262
