Cassava is a tuber gotten from the cassava plant. It is grown in tropical regions around the world because of its ability to withstand certain growing conditions like drought. It is used both domestically and industrially. Cassava is used in industries for making flour. Here are some health benefits of cassava.

1. Cassava is nutritious.

Cassava contains many vitamins and minerals. The following vitamins and minerals are found in cooked cassava; vitamin C, copper, thiamine, folate, vitamin B6, potassium, magnesium and niacin. Cassava root is particularly high in vitamin C, an important vitamin that acts as an antioxidant, supports collagen production, and enhances immunity.

2. Cassava contains resistant starch.

Cassava is high in resistant starch, a type of starch that bypasses digestion and has similar to those of soluble fiber. Resistant starch feeds the beneficial bacteria in the gut and may help reduce inflammation and promote digestive health. Resistant starch has the ability to improve metabolic health.
