Disease prevention and treatment

All diseases cannot be Eliminated. See why

Man continues to fight in what seems to be a never-ending war with diseases. Every cure developed should have liberated man from this ordeal, but this is not the case, as new diseases are discovered on a daily basis--each one unique. Diseases have been with us for centuries. Can we finally eliminate them?

Many organisms, including humans, have benefited from evolution in various ways. It has made us the way we are today and has given us immunity to a certain extent. Evolution, as an impartial judge, has also favoured diseases. Diseases have advanced. New strains are stumbled upon each day. A very practical example is the dreaded Corona virus, which was first discovered in 1931 and was known to cause common cold in humans. This was nothing to be feared at the time as it could be controlled even without seeking medical attention. What started as a small disease has metamorphosized into a disease which has wiped out close to 2.5 million people worldwide, according to the World Health Organization, between 2019, when it was rediscovered, and 2021. Other diseases, like Malaria, Typhoid, small pox, and plague, to mention a few, have developed resistance to the drugs used for treatment and are slowly getting out of hand.

Diseases have changed and will continue to do so. Since the hunter has learnt to shoot without missing, the birds have learnt to fly without perching. Since man has discovered cures for diseases, they have (in a sense) learnt to evolve past our treatment. Your health is your wealth. You must make it a priority to prevent diseases so as to live well. How healthy do you believe you and your family can be?
