AstraZeneca or Pfizer BioNTech? Which Vaccine is effective against the DELTA variant?

A vaccine is defined as a substance used to stimulate the production of antibodies and provide immunity against one or several diseases, prepared from the causative agent of a disease, its products, or a synthetic substitute, treated to act as an antigen without inducing the disease.

In our part of the world where we depend on donor support to get some things like medical supplies, in this case Covid-19 vaccine, people tend to have different ideas with regards to which one to go for.

In this article, we take a look at a published research and share ideas on which vaccine we think is effective against the Delta variant of the SARS Cov2.

The vaccines studied in this trial are (a) AstraZeneca and (b) Pfizer BioNTech vaccines. The research based on data from people aged 16 and above who underwent Covid 19 testing.

Take a look at the Research design in the image below

The results indicate that after one dose of either vaccine, the estimated effectiveness was lower against delta than against alpha. After two doses however, vaccine effectiveness was high, with only modest differences between the variants.

We can safely conclude that both vaccines are effective and urge our readers to go for the jab.
