In a letter dated 27th April,2021 the Management of Ministry of Health has clarified the demands made by Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwifery Council that Government owes Nurses and Midwives eight(8) months allowance .
Ministry of Health (MoH ) has denied owing the 2019/2020 Nurses and Midwives eight months allowance .The Ministry however admitted to owing Nurses and Midwives who were admitted in September 2020 three(3) months allowance ie January, February and March,2021.
The Management of Ministry of Health explained that due to COVID-19 students who were admitted in September 2020 could not start School. They started schooling in January 2021 hence the arrears of three(3) months.
Ministry of Health informed that the allowance arrears of 2019/2020 continuing students were paid allowance from January to March,2020.
The Ministry has also admitted that they owe 2019/2020 students who completed in December 2020 three months arrears ie April, May and June 2020. The Ministry of Health has assured the students that arrears are been processed for payment.
