Taking care of your heart is an important part to living a healthy life. Globally, the incident of heart disease is rising and in some parts of the world, it is in the epidemic form. Everyone knows that it is the old who are mostly affected with heart diseases, but now heart diseases in the younger generation is becoming rampant. Here are some great tips on how to make your routine a heart healthy one.


Eat protein first

When you eat protein first, your stomach stays fuller longer, your blood sugar remains stable and it keeps you from over eating things that may not be as healthy.


Exercise more


When you exercise, you enable the easy movement of your blood, which in turn helps make the work of your heart easier, not having to put too much pressure before pumping blood.


Stay away from smoking

Smoking has an incredible impact not only on your heart but also on your lungs. Smoking causes your blood vessels to decrease in size and can cause heart attacks. So be heart smart and stop smoking.


Drink water

Make it easy, keep it next to you, keep a bottle of water wherever you go. Water is essential for delivering nutrients to the parts of your body including your heart.


Sleep more

When we rest, our bodies recover. Do something to get you ready to go to sleep, like reading a book, meditating or listening to music, plan to sleep more.


Forgiveness

Why forgiveness? Stress impacts our hearts in negative ways, when we are sad, depressed or holding a grudge, we hurt our hearts. You should forgive someone. You don't have to call them up or let them know, forgiveness is for you and not them, but letting go so you can live.


Send love

You should use your phones to send heart warming messages to the people you care about, think of someone in your life that you really love, send a text to let them know that you are thinking of them and that you love them, it will help your heart and theirs.


Know your numbers

Knowing your numbers is important, it tells us at how high or risk we are from diseases, so you need to know your blood pressure, weight, cholesterol, triglycerides and blood sugar, your doctor can help you with this, know your numbers, so you can stay safe.


Finally, eat red

Try to get one red food in each meal, red foods are high in vitamins, high in fiber and they really make it fun to be healthy. Here are some red foods; tomatoes, strawberry, red pepper, apple. Find one red food every meal to eat.
