U/W: Residents of Papu worried over a looming disease outbreak

Nadowli-Kaleo DCE, Katherine T. Lankono

Residents of Papu in the Nadowli-Kaleo District of the Upper West Region have expressed worry over a looming danger of the outbreak and spread of cholera and other communicable diseases in the community.

The residents brought this to light at time where open defecation has become the order of the day. The people admitted that in community, there is no public toilet facility causing fowls and flies to contaminate their foods with the disease vectors.

A resident, Raphael Gariba said the community of over six hundred adult residents has no public toilet compelling residents to resort to open defecation. He described the situation as embarrassing especially when guests visit the community.

He noted that it was once an NGO sensitized them to build household toilets but they did not receive full support to construct them nicely.

They called on the District Chief Executive for Nadowli-Kaleo, Madam Katherine Lankono to help address the health development.
