Most people especially some Ghanaians are of the view that stress is necessary to make life complete. This is produced when the events of life, whether physical or psychological, are greater than the ability to cop. This means life with its consumerism and competitiveness brings a degree of complexity, imbalance that dangerously affects all areas of life.
Individuals experiencing intense stress run the risk of suffering from serious illness such as;
Stroke: Damage of the brain from interruption of its blood
Heart attack : Blockage of blood flow to the heart muscles .
Alopecia : sudden hair loss that starts with one or more circular bald patches that may overlap.
Hypertension is a diastolic blood pressure (DBP) of 90mm Hg or more.
Psoriasis : a condition in which skin cells build up and form scales and itchy, dry patches.
Neck pain: the pain the neck and shoulder that varies in intensity and may feel a dry or like an electric shock from the neck to the arm.
Fibromyalgia: widespread muscle pain and tenderness.
Obesity: weight above what's considered healthy often measured using body mass index.
Sexual Dysfunction: Persistent, recurrent difficulty with sexual response.
Impotence: this occurs when a man can't get or keep an erection firm enough for intercourse.
Gastro duodenal ulcer: a sore that develops on the lining of the oesophagus
Colon diverticulosis ; a condition in which small bulgin pouches develop in a digestive tract
Autoimmune disease; a disease in which the body immune system attacks healthy cells.
Post - traumatic stress disorder is characterised by failure to recover after experiencing or witnessing a terrifying event.
Tension headache : A mild to modearte pain often described as feeling like a tight band around the head.
However certain foods to help adapt to stress, whiles others weaken it.
Eat more of these;
wheat foods rich in vitamins B and C.
