Medicinal properties derived from plants can come from many different parts of a plant including leaves, roots, bark, fruit, seeds, flowers. Each part of plants contain deferend ingredient. Some parts of plants are toxic while some are not harmful.
Properties of medicine
Bulb: A bulb is a structure that contains deferend layers know as bulb scale. Examples are, onion and garlic.
Bark: The protective outer layer of a tree trunk that is formed by layers of living cells above the wood. The properties of bark that are used for medicine includes, quinine bark, oak bark, pepperbark, and willow bark.
Essential oil: These are oils that are generally extracted from plants using a steam distillation process. Examples are camphor and peppermint oil.
Fruit: Fruits are often use for medicinal purposes. The carrot family fruits are usually used for medicine. They includes fennel fruit and anise.
Leaf: The leaves, shrub and trees can also be used for medicinal purposes. Lease mixed with twigs, stems, and buds can be used for medicine. Example is maidenhair tree.
Roots: The fleshy or woody roots are used for medicinal purposes. Roots may be solid (ginseng), fibrous (stinging nettle), or fleshy (devil’s claw).
