In a first in medical history ever, a baby boy has been born with three penises, a team of doctors has revealed. He is the first person to be born with such an affliction, according to Doctors. According to reports, the baby was born three months ago. Triphallia is the medical term for this disease.
The case of Triphallia was reported in Duhok, in the north of the country.
His parents took him to the doctor after discovering "two skin projections" at the base of his scrotum, according to the doctors. The doctors discovered it's were penises, and they were baffled.
Only the child’s main penis was functioning, so the doctors removed the excess penises.
The team, led by Dr. Shakir Saleem Jabali, wrote in the International Journal of Surgery Case Reports: “Triphallia (three penises) is an unreported condition in a human until now. Patients with supernumerary penises have unique presentations and no cases are identical.
Treatment is daunting because it requires medical, ethical, and cosmetic considerations. For management, a multidisciplinary team is needed, as well as long-term monitoring.
Excision or reconstruction of the duplicate penis is required depending on the corporal development and anatomy of the urethra.”
One measured 2cm while the other was 1cm – only one of the penises had a head.
