Health COVID

Doctors industrial strike in force in Nigeria despite threats and the escalating rise in COVID-19 cases.

Issues relating to health are very delicate, hence, it needs very special attention to that effect. Each and everyone else's health is extremely important. It becomes necessary for patients to attend and consult physicians should their health conditions wither.

Doctors have been phenomenal and have played an outstanding and instrumental role in the health deliveries of patients coupled with the scary nature of COVID-19 across countries. They have risked and been risking their lives in trying to combat this virus and other health ailments.

Despite the escalating number of infections of the COVID-19 cases in Nigeria, doctors have embarked on an industrial strike due to poor conditions of service of their members. They have primarily embarked on this strike action due to the delays in the payment of salaries and allowances by the government.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige has threatened to dismiss these public doctors should they refuse to call off the strike on Monday, August 9th, 2021.

The NARP has however refused to pay heed to several threats by the government. They have stated that they will never return to work unless their demands are met.
