Just In: The New La General Hospital is Eye Catching. President Nana Akuffo-Addo Cuts Sod Today.

As part of His Excellency, President Akuffo Addo's promise of constructing hospitals in each of thedistricts in the country, the President took the opportunity to cut sod for the rebuilding of the La General Hospital.

The hospital was closed down in early March this year for reconstruction and equipping of the hospital into a modern one.

The old hospital was built in 1963 to serve the populace of La, Osu, Teshie, Nungua and other immediate surroundings. The hospital was a 161 bed facility.

The construction and equipping of the hospital is due to start this month. The new La Dadekotopon Municipal Hospital will be a 164 bed facility.

The functional areas of the hospital will include but not limited to: Laboratory, Maternity ward, OPD services, recovery room, Physiotherapy department, exercise and changing room, Blood bank, medical stores, emergency, operating theater, microbiology, Haematology and Chemistry, Pathology and many others. The project is to be completed within two years.

The President, His Excellency Nana Akuffo-Addo, in his speech he added that, his government in response to employment, has added over 90,000 health workers.

He acknowledged that this is not the end but a lot more will be done to improve and meet the healthcare demands of the country.
