The purchase agreement between a private businessman from the Gulf States (Sheikh Al Maktoum) and the Minister of Health on behalf of the Government of Ghana has raised a lot of concerns among the Ghanaian people. According to popular investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni, this deal could have caused the country to lose millions of dollars.
The Health Minister in his account to a Committee set up to investigate this deal, disclosed that he had no option than to enter the deal and claimed that no initial payment was made for the purchase of the vaccine. Other concerns have been raised again when the Health Minister is said to have written to Sheikh Al Maktoum for a refund of the part-payment made for the purchase of the vaccine. The question which comes to mind is, "how can an amount which was not been paid be refunded?"
Mr. Manasseh Azure took to his Facebook page to comment about these events. In his post, he stated that the President is watching as the nation's Health Minister is seeking for a refund of an amount he claimed was not paid in the first place. Check below for the post of Mr. Azure:
Many Ghanaians responded to the post of Mr. Azure. In the various responses, individuals made a call on the Health Minister to resign from his position. Others also called on the President to sack the Health Minister.
