Use a humidifier.

Don't smoke.

Don't pick your nose.

Don't use cold and allergy medications too often.

Causes of nosebleeds

foreign object stuck in the nose.

chemical irritants.

allergic reaction.

injury to the nose.

repeated sneezing.

picking the nose.

cold air.

Most nosebleeds are minor and the bleeding stops on its own, but some people will need medical attention.

If the nosebleed has not stopped after 15 minutes, apply an ice pack to the bridge of the nose, upper lip, or back of the neck. This may help to constrict the blood vessels and reduce the bleeding.

Especially during colder months when air is dry, apply a thin, light coating of petroleum jelly (Vaseline) or antibiotic ointment (bacitracin, Neosporin) with a cotton swab three times a day. Saline nasal spray also can help moisten dry nasal membranes.
