U/W: Shortage of Paracetamol Hits Upper West Hospital

The Former Upper West Regional Communications Officer for NDC, Mr. Issah Kantagyere Bonsinmwini has revealed how he was directed to an over the counter to buy paracetamol due to shortage of the drug.

Explaining the Issue, he stated that the development occured on the 2nd of May 2021 she he went to pay a visit to a patient.

"Earlier this evening, between 4:30pm and 5:00pm, I went to the Upper West Regional hospital to pay a visit to my nephew who isn't well for the past few days. Upon reaching the ward, I was asked to go to the dispensary for medicine and when I went there, to my surprise, I was told they don't have paracetamol tabs and that I've to go out and buy it. This is the extend in which our Health sector has been reduced to.

I am telling you that this happened this evening at the Upper West Regional hospital. Yes the prescription was done online and I was was given a chit to go to the dispensary for the medication. When I got there, the dispenser who happens to be an old boy of Wa Poly told me they don't have the drug and wrote it on this form for me to go and buy and I did just that. If you want to know the OCT where I went and bought the drug I'll show you. What will I tell a lie for? especially in this holy month".
