Renowned Ghanaian award winning investigative Journalist and anti-corruption campaigner, Manasseh Azure Awuni has caused massive stir online with his latest comment about the COVID-19 donation to Ghana. The journalist who is obviously disappointed in the government over its approach to buying the vaccines that resulted in a big scandal has lashed the government.
Recall, the Minister of Health was accused and received harsh criticism from Ghana after failed attempts to purchase COVID-19 vaccines. According to the Minister, he acted in the best interests of Ghanaians Ghanaians to rate at which the deadly coronavirus pandemic was causing fear in the public. Ghanaians and social media commentators especially, those on the other side of the political divide descended heavily on him and called for investigation into the matter.
Investigative Journalist, Manasseh Azure reacting to this alleged scandal, has showered praises on Germany and United States of America for donating vaccines to Ghana and many African countries. According to him, the white leaders are exhibiting good leadership behaviour that is lacking in Ghana's political system.
In a post sighted on his official Twitter handle, he sought to chastise the Akuffo-Addo government over its failure to purchase the vaccines. He also indicated that he finds it difficult to understand Akuffo-Addo's corruption that is causing severe damage to Ghana.
He said, "Thank you Germany, America that have donated vaccines to save lives. I know you're amused that our government, whose only attempt to buy it's own vaccines resulted in a massive scandal, is taking credit for your benevolence. We here are equally amused."
Manasseh Azure Awuni's comment have received massive reactions from Ghanaians. Some have jumped to his defence whilst others, obviously from the NPP have blasted him over his comment.
