With that been said, let’s get right into this article.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) party has recently sparked massive stir, debates and arguments across all social media platforms after boldly calling on the Chief Justice, Anin Yeboah to step aside for further investigations to commence into allegations that depicted that, He demanded bribe for the final verdict of a Supreme Court case to rule in favor of the giver.

The Chief Justice’s name popped up in the response to the petition concerning the allegations made by Lawyer Afrifa Akwasi Esq against Nana Ogyeedom Obranu Kwesi Atta VI after petitioning the conduct of the former to the General Legal Council.

However, Chief Justice Anin Yeboah has already denied all allegations against him on July 12 whilst requesting Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police service to strictly investigate the matter for proper action to be taken.

Addressing Journalist in Accra on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, Asiedu Nketiah made it clear that recent history of the CID makes them incompetent to handle the investigations involving Chief Justice Anin Yeboah.

”We are of considered view that the recent history of the Police CID with respect to investigations into allegations against high ranking officials of Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government would not afford the sort of confidence that must be engendered in an investigation such as this considering the elevated position of the person against whom these allegations have been made”, Asiedu Nketiah emphatically stated.

With respect to this, the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Party, Asiedu Nketiah recently speaking on the issue made it clear that, the Chief Justice has to step aside for further investigations into the case concerning the alleged bribery intended to rule in favor of the giver.

“Best practice would require that Chief Justice steps aside temporarily until the matters are looked into and a clear outcome emerges and we believe this instance calls for such an action.

In making these calls, we are guided by the supreme interest of governance and the preservation of the image of critical state institutions like the judiciary and its leaders especially the Chief Justice. No iota of doubt must remain about its integrity and credibility and it is absolutely imperative that everything is done to guarantee this”, Asiedu Nketiah emphatically stated.

Do you agree that the police CID would not afford the needed sort of confidence in investigating the Chief Justice as claimed by Asiedu Nketiah?
