The managing editor for insight news paper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has finally explained and revealed the reasons why the case between chief Justice Anin Yeboah and lawyer Dominic Ayine has been championed by NDC and disclosed some facts to Ghanaians today, Wednesday, 23rd June, 2021.
The veteran journalist speaking on Metro TV good morning Ghana show stated that the case between chief justice and lawyer Dominic Ayine has been reduced to NDC and Chief Justice fight because of actions taken towards the issue.
Kwesi Pratt Jnr stated that everyone know that no one is above the laws of the country and the judiciary is acting on behalf of the citizens and 2020 election petition has drawn something special that has keep NDC angry at chief justice.
He said that when chief Justice referred lawyer Dominic Ayine to the general legal council for investigations, a lot of lawyers speak about it and it has divided the lawyers into two about the issue circulating in country which is a huge problem for Ghana.
Kwesi Pratt Jnr revealed that when chief Justice went to parliamentary vetting when he was appointed, he told the public that they should speak up whenever they saw something wrong about their judiciary so why is he referring lawyer to general legal council after post election petition?
According to Kwesi Pratt Jnr, Ghanaians witnessed some strange thing in court during the 2020 election petition. He stated that Ghanaians were not okay with unanimous decision taking by the supreme court on each judgement they passed, and revealed that in 2012 election petition, there was different judges giving different opinions on issues before them before they passed judgement and Ghanaians were okay with them then although some do criticized them.
He stated that it about how Ghanaians weight the principle and the facts before the court and remind chief Justice Anin Yeboah that he should know that the judiciary is not above the law. He said the nation can abolish the judiciary and amend the constitution at anytime if they wishes to do.
Kwesi Pratt Jnr made a lot of comments about the judiciary and concluded that the NDC is fighting chief Justice because there was a forum where opportunity was giving to lawyers to expressed their views on post election petition, and lawyer Dominic Ayine made his thoughts known so why should the same chief Justice who informed the people to criticized them have to refer a lawyer to the general legal council for investigations?
He advised the judiciary that they should not let their actions suppress freedom of speech in the country as some lawyers who shared their opinion on the issue has advised them.
