Ghanaians Descend Heavily on Akufo-Addo's Lawyer For Saying This

Some Ghanaians have descended heavily on a Private Legal Practitioner, Akoto Ampaw for saying that male heterosexuals are a threat to Ghana’s value system than LGBTQ+.

In a statement that seemed to be opposing the Anti LGBT+ bill,  the Lawyers disagreed with the proponents of the bill who believe that LGBT+ is a threat to the family and value system of Ghana.

Contrary to this belief, Lawyer Akoto Ampaw explained that the biggest threat to family and value systems in Ghana is not LGBTQ+ but rather adultery and the impregnation of teenagers by heterosexual males.

According to the lawyer, the bill is a violent one that threatens the rights of people hence the need to reject it. Akoto Ampaw further called on the government to reject the “violent” Anti LGBTQ+ bill.

However, this statement by the Lawyer did not sit well with some Ghanaians who trolled and called him names on Social media. Some rained curses on him while others accused him of supporting LGBTQ+ for personal gains.

The  proposed Anti LGBT+ bill criminalizes LGBT advocacy, requires to denounce "suspects", advocates for conversion therapy and imposes longer jail sentences. The bill sparked controversies since its proposal with many Ghanaians endorsing and calling for the passage of the bill into law. There are also some others who do not support the bill just like Lawyer Akoto Ampaw.
