Arise Ghana Demo May Not Come On For These Two Reasons

The proposed Arise Ghana Demo is likely not to come on as slated by the organisers for some reasons revealed by the Ghana Police service.

It is a known fact that for some time now, the Ghana Police service has been very strict with guidelines regarding the demonstrations in the country.

The demonstration according to the organizers is hoping be one of the biggest in the country with many as the organizers are seeking the support most Ghanaians and Top personalities to endorse exercise due to the current high prices of fuel, food, transportation fares and other services in the country.

Top journalist such as Randy Abbey, Kelvin Taylor and others have endorsed the demonstration due the reasons given by the organizers.

However, the Ghana Police service is having a challenge with the organizers over two basic issues namely the location and the time.

A statement by the Ghana Police Service noted that the time given by the organizers will in infringe on Public Order and safety for that matter the organizers were given the option to review the time and location. The organizers were not willing to change the time and location. The organizers wanted to start the demonstration at 3:00pm and close at 10.00pm but the police didn't want the demonstration going into the night stating that it will affect public safety and order. The police also have a problem with the choice of location for the planned picketing.

As a result, the police have refered the matter to the high for determination.

Given the reasons provided by the Ghana Police service for which it sought the organizers to review the time and location, the court is likely to deny the Arise Ghana Organizers from holding the demonstration if they refuse to comply with the detectives from the Ghana Police service.
