The Attorney-General has yet again failed to cause a summons and other particulars on the docket to be served on Oliver Barker-Vormawor or his lawyers. The summons and the particulars are needed for Oliver’s trial to start.
It may be recalled that on 1st August, 222, the Ashaiman District Magistrate Court committed Oliver to stand trial on two counts of treason felony. By the Magistrate’s orders, the trial was to start on 1st September, 22.
On 1st September, 20, the Attorney-General, without serving the summons or the particulars on Oliver or his lawyers, went to the High Court (Criminal Division 3), Accra, to start prosecution on Oliver’s blind-side.
That day, according to media reports the High Court judge, Her Ladyship, Justice Mary Yanzuh, adjourned the case to 13th October, 202, and ordered the Attorney-General to cause the summons and the particulars to be served on Oliver.
On 27th September 2022, Oliver’s lawyers wrote a letter to the Attorney-General and made a formal demand on him for the service of the summons and the particulars (see the receipt copy of the letter attached).
