NPP tells LGBTQ community: We respect your rights, but we will not encourage your activities.

John Boadu is the General Secretary of the NPP

The.NPP reveals its position on LGBTQ+ issues. "The NPP would not promote the activities of the LGBTQ+ community... we recognize the rights of the individuals...", said New Patriotic Party leader John Boadu, in response to the country's continuing debate and talks on homosexuality.

According to the party's General Secretary, John Boadu, this reflects the party's zero tolerance for LGBTQ+ community or group activities, according to citinewsroom.com.

He stated this to delegates during the Eastern Regional Delegates Conference in Kyebi.

"The NPP will not support the LGBTQ+ community's activities. Individual rights are respected, but we cannot accept behaviors that contradict our values. However, if regulation is enacted, we will ensure that their rights are maintained, but we will not encourage LGBTQ+ activities," he explained.

The Promotion of Proper Human Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill 2021 is now being debated in parliament, and it aims to make all LGBT actions illegal in Ghana.

The Ningo-Prampram Member of Parliament, Sam Nartey George, is leading the sponsored Private Members bill, which has sparked a lot of attention and debate around the country.

In their drive to promote Ghanaian values, Sam George and his comrades want homosexuality's promotion, advocacy, funding, and criminal behavior.

Meanwhile, the proposed anti-gay measure in parliament has been voted against by 18 notable persons.

According to them, the law infringes on nearly all of the Constitution's basic fundamental freedoms.

They claim that the LGBTQ+ community is denied the right to freedom of expression, assembly, association, organization, the right to be free of discrimination, and human dignity.

Thank you for sharing and may God continue to bless you.
