#Fixthecountry Demo: Supreme Court Nullifies High Court Order

The Supreme Court of Ghana on Tuesday, June 8, 2020 nullified the High Court injunction, restraining the organizers of the fix the country campaign from executing their intended demonstration. The Supreme Court presided over by Justice Yaw Appau said the order was in error and proceeded to quash it.

In securing the said injunction, the Ghana Police Service cited the need to protect the public in line with the covid-19 restrictions imposed by the government.

Unhappy and disappointed by this decision, the conveners of the fix the country movement sort refuge at the Supreme Court, to uphold their right to demonstrate as enshrined in the 1992 Republican constitution of Ghana.

Indispitably, this ruling by the Supreme Court will provide further impetus for the movement which has attracted massive attention across the country.

The decision also paves way for the demonstration, which promises to be one of the biggest in recent times.
