Ghana Police Service Unhappy With Arise Ghana Demonstrators

The Ghana Police Service has registered its displeasure at Arise Ghana Demonstrators for pelting stones at police officers providing them with security.

Reports indicate that some of the protestors charged at the security personnel and pelted stones at them, injuring some in the process.

Footage shared by the Ghana Police Service showed one police officer bleeding from an injury sustained in his left ear.

The police service captioned the footage, “Attack on Police in the Ongoing Arise Ghana Demonstration” and described it as a shame.

“What a shame, we were there to protect you and ensure your safety, but you throw stones at us, injure and hurt us. This behaviour is unacceptable and must be condemned”, it added.

The cause of sudden agitation of the demonstrators against the officers was however not relayed by the Police service.

Ahead of the protest, the Inspector-General of Police George Akufo Dampare paraded the officers who would provide security to the protestors and took them through a police professionalism lecture on crowd control.

He charged his men to treat the protestors as humans and with respect.

His lecture was on the back of public backlash at the police for their unprofessional method of controlling crowds on countless occasions with a recent one on June 13, 2022, at the Islamic Senior High School in Kumasi.
