$5M Bribery Scandal: We In The NDC Want The Chief Justice To Step Aside - Asiedu Nketiah

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) wants the Chief Justice Kwesi Anin-Yeboah to step aside after being accused of $5 million bribery allegations.

At a press conference on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, NDC General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia argued that this would allow a fair investigation into allegations of misconduct against the Chief Justice.

The General Secretary of the NDC party, Mr Asiedu Nketiah strongly belief that judicial investigations into alleged scandal could be jeopardized because the Chief Justice is authorized to sanction Judicial Officers. Mr Asiedu also called for a public enquiry into the bribery allegations, saying it is the best way to find out the truth.

But on this issue, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court has denied the allegations and asked the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to go ahead with any investigations they wish to carry out.

Here's what he said; “We believe that only credible and transparent investigations can establish the truth in this matter. And we hold the opinion that the transparent approach of a public enquiry is the best way to go. This approach we believe is in the interest of the Chief Justice who stands accused and his accuser.”
