A private legal practitioner and the national communications officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Sammy Gyamfi has waded into the Rev Owusu Bempah saga alleging foul play in the circumstances surrounding the latter's arrest and subsequent prosecution.
According to Mr Sammy Gyamfi, the nature of crime Rev Owusu Bempah is alleged to have committed does not warrant the kind of treatment meted out to him.
However, he is of the view that given his(Owusu Bempah) dislike for the candidature of Dr Bawumia, he is only being taught a lesson by the powers that be.
He is convinced that Rev Owusu Bempah is being victimized because he has chosen Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng over Alhaji Dr. Bawumia.
"One prophet is leading the Bawumia agenda. Owusu Bempah and his cohorts are also on Alan's side. It's all about the power struggle in NPP. They were looking for a way to deal with him and he brought himself."
Sammy Gyamfi questioned why the provocatuer, Nana Agradaa was also not picked up.
"Have you seen one person fighting? He has been charged with disturbing public peace, why did they not arrest the person he was fighting with ? Their stories are inaccurate." He quizzed.
The founder and leader of Glorious Word and Power Ministry International, Rev Isaac Owusu Bempah was arrested together with three of his junior pastors on Sunday September 12 during church service.
His arrest was precipitated by several confrontation between him and a repented fetish priest who is now known as Evangelist Patricia Oduro Koranteng alias Agradaa.
Rev Owusu Bempah was arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction on Monday together with his junior pastors but was denied bail and remanded for a week in police custody.
His lawyer successfully secured a GHC 200,000 bail with two sureties for him earlier today.
Mr Charles Owusu a known political activist and a member of Rev Owusu Bempah's church have accused the IGP for needlessly incarcerating and prosecuting Rev Owusu Bempah for reasons he(Charles Owusu) believes are untenable.
