NAM1's Menzgold "fraud" case to be resumed today

Nana Appiah Mensah as infamously known as NAM1 will have the court hearing of his "fraudulent" activity resumed today, the 27th of May, 2021.

The case of the now defunct organization, Menzgold, was adjourned at the last hearing in March where the court warned about striking out the issue at hand because of the delay to file the necessary procedure to start the trial.

The prosecutor of the case, ASP Sylvester Asare, had asked at the last hearing for more time to file the documents like the witness statement due to the large number of people involved thus the need for more time to investigate and now the time is due.

The prosecutor presented some facts that:

About 16000 people complained that Menzgold had convinced them to invest about GHS 1.68 billion in a gold purchase scheme which yielded a 10% interest monthly.

The complainants said their money was locked up and they couldn't find any of the principal officers of the organization.

The prosecutor said investigations revealed that Menzgold was incorporated as a limited liability company in 2013 and had got a license to purchase and export gold from small scale miners. In order to join the business, Nana Mensah had found Brew Marketing Consult as a gold buying agent.

He said although Menzgold was licensed to purchased gold , It was not licensed to trade gold. And that is why they invited the public to invest with fixed interest in no time under the pretext of purchasing gold without such a license to trade in gold.

ASP Sylvester Asare said from further investigation, the three accused people were all principal officers of Menzgold and Brew Marketing Consult.
