Anas Fails To Show Up In Court, Bissue's Lawyer Accuses OSP Of Employing Delay Tactics

Investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas failed to make an appearance in court today over the suit filed by former Secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Charles Bissue. This was confirmed by Joy News court correspondent, Joseph Arkah Blay.

Anas Aremeyaw Anas, is a second defendant to a suit filed by Mr Bissue seeking an injunction against the Special Prosecutor and the Office of the Special Prosecutor from investigating the "Galamsey Fraud Part 1" documentary. Anas in an amended writ by lawyers of Mr Bissue is to be investigated and prosecuted for claims of bribery as publicised in the said documentary.

Besides Anas' "no show" in court, counsel for the plaintiff, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah Esq, according to Joy News is accusing the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for deploying tricks in delaying the court process.

Lawyers of the OSP filed a conditional appearance in court today, praying the court dismisses the cases. According to the report, the OSP believes they have a strong basis to argue the case and that in due course will demonstrate that in court.

This is what lawyers of Charles Bissue find to be dodgy, given that the OSP had declared it is already armed with every information through its investigations and ready to prosecute the former.

The case has been adjourned to February 6 2023.
