Ashanti: 18-year old boy jailed for ten (10) years just four days after stealing GhC160

An eighteen (18) year-old, by name Emmanuel Kyeremeh has been sentenced to ten years imprisonment. He was jailed by the Nkawie Circuit Court for robbing a student at Anyimaso, town near Nkawie in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.

Detective Inspector Anthony Acheampong narrated to the court, presided by Michael Johnson Abbey that, on 6th June, 2021, Priscilla Asare Nyamekye was robbed by the convict on her way home after being sent on an errand by her mother.

Emmanuel Kyeremeh made away with Prscilla's mobile phone and one hundred sixty Ghana cedis (GhC 160). The value of the mobile phone and the money put together was three hundred Ghana cedis (GhC 300).

Emmanuel Kyeremeh wanted to run away from the town. However, an eye witness to his earlier activity spotted him and hinted the police which ultimately led to his arrest.

The convict pleaded guilty and the judge swiftly handed a 10-years jail term to him. In fact, it has been less than five days between Emmanuel's crime and his sentencing.

The alacrity with which the Nkawie Circuit Court dealt with this case must be commended as many cases before our law courts have been witnessing several adjournments.
