A man could be jailed for patting the chest and backside of a lady named Fatoumata Diao. The man was imprisoned for touching the breasts and patting the buttocks of Lady Fatoumata Diao. He was therefore prosecuted for indecent assault on the 61 year old lady. He risks 6 months imprisonment.
Oumar Sow was at the bar at the Dakar flagrante delicto court on Thursday, October 14, 2021. The acts with which he is accused took place in Bambilor, a commune in Senegal. Tening Dione, neighbor of Lady Fatoumata Diao, was an eyewitness to the actions of the alleged culprit. The latter said to have seen the man attacking the victim by patting her chest and backside.
She therefore alerted the neighborhood youth who immediately mobilized to help the victim. The old man trying to escape was quickly arrested. He was taken to the neighborhood chief before being handed over to the competent authorities.
The defendant bluntly denied the facts at the stand, "I swear to God that I never made this despicable gesture. Fatoumata Diao accuses me for free without proof. My only mistake is to have been in the wrong place at the wrong time, since we met on a path. Nothing happened between us. I didn't even approach her. I don't even know her. Besides, I couldn't do anything with her, because she's my mother's age," he defended himself.
The representative of the public prosecutor requested a prison sentence of 06 months firm. For its part, the defense pleaded for a benevolent application of the criminal law. At the end of the hearing, the judge preferred to put the case under advisement until October 21.
