Comrade Kwesi Pratt Jnr speaks on Sir John's funeral arrangements

Comrade Kwesi Pratt Jnr. has expressed his worry over the overcrowding that occurred at the final funeral ceremony of the Late Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Sir John.

During the funeral and burial service, which was held at his hometown, Sakora-Wonoo in the Ashanti Region, a throng of government officials, lovers, residents the President Nana Akufo-Addo and his Vice Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, all went to pay their last respect to the late politician and lawyer.

The crowd was so huge and number of people at the funeral ground was spotted without nose mask, and not adhering to the COVID-19 safety protocols.

Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' programme, Comrade Kwesi Pratt Jnr. said: ''What I don't understand is when it comes to demonstrations; we go to court in the name of COVID? When it comes to demonstrations, we say there is COVID and so don't do it but when it comes to politics or the funeral of a prominent person, then we open the way. Let's be very careful”!

Comrade Pratt added that, he wondered why Sir John’s funeral organizers disregarded the COVID-19 laid down safety protocols, and that, he feared; that COVID-19 cases in the country might rise again should such gatherings continue.

Speaking to the program host- Kwami Sefa Kayi; Kwesi Pratt, who is the Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, raised an alarm about the dangers posed by action of the funeral organizers, and adding that, latest research has shown that the new COVID-19 variants could now be found even in domestic animals.
