It is sacrilegious and unfair to prosecute leaders of Christ Embassy Church- Sammy Gyamfi

The National Communication Director of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Mr Sammy Gyamfi is of the view that it will be unfair to prosecute leaders of the Christ Embassy Church who organized an all-night service tagged "Pneumatic Night" few days ago.

Thousands of members of the Christ Embassy Church trooped to the International Conference Center to worship and honor God in the midst of covid-19 scares on the night of 30th April, 2020.

The Criminal Investigative Department of the Ghana Police Service after conducting investigations into the event has charged three of the leaders of the Christ Embassy Church for breaching the covid-19 restrictions of the country.

However, Mr Sammy Gyamfi in reacting to the charges wrote on his Facebook page that punishing the organizers of the church service is not only tantamount to hypocrisy on the part of government but will be sacrilegious as well.

"It will be sacrilegious and in fact, the height of hypocrisy for Akufo-Addo to prosecute leaders of Christ Rmbassy for holding a program to preach Christ and heal the sick, at the time legal restriction on public gathering had elapsed, when he President Akufo-Addo, the NPP and the NDC of which I am a member held rallies and mass political gatherings in the run up to the 2020 general election covid was at its peak and restrictions on public gatherings were in full force".
