The Member of Parliament for Jomoro, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has had a case in court for a while now.
Her citizenship is being challenged, and therefore she has been called upon to defend herself. The Sekondi Commercial Court A is overseeing her case, and is presided over by Her Ladyship, Justice Sedina Agbemava.
The bench warrant for her arrest was issued on Monday, December 6, 2021 following her failure to appear in court over contempt charges.
However, during proceedings on Thursday, the Court rescinded its decision following the arrival of the MP in court.
On the proceedings in the court on Thursday, she was also accompanied to the court by the Member of Parliament for the Ellembele constituency, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah.
Lawyer for the Mp, Edudzi Kudzo Tamaklo after the court proceedings said in an interview that the court rescinded the warrant as there was no basis for the warrant to still stand.
Joshua Emuah Kofie, who stays in Nuba-Mpataba of the Jomoro constituency, accused the MP of holding dual citizenship before the 2020 election.
This is the substantive application, and it will be moved on the contempt case in the next sitting of the court which is on February 16, 2022.
That was a close call for the Honorable Mp, and we all know she would be very glad about the court rescinding the arrest warrant. She therefore gets to spend the holidays with her family as a free individual.
