It happens to be the highest mountain in Ghana. The summit is located in the Volta Region, near the border with Togo, close to the villages of Liati Wote and Gbledi Gbogame in the Afadjato South District and Hohoe Municipality, respectively. It is 2904 ft above the sea level.
Most people often get the name of this mountain wrong. People often call it Mountain Afadjato. Well, it is wrong to say Mountain Afadjato.
Afadja is the name of the mountain. The word 'to' which is part of the Afadja means mountain.
This means, saying Mountain Afadjato literary means that Mountain Afadja Mountain.
In order words The mountain's name is "Afadja," while the suffix "-to" in the Ewe language means mountain. The correct name in the English language, therefore, would be "Mount Afadja", as "Mount Afadjato" would be a repetition of the word "mountain".
One can however choose to call it just Afadjato or Mountain Afadja.
Mount Afadja is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the Volta Region of Ghana, welcoming thousands of visitors from around the globe annually.
