Bruce Campbell, a retired electrical engineer who is 64 years old, has always had a very creative vision. He purchased a 10-acre plot of land in Hillsboro's woods for $23,000 when he was in his early twenties. Campbell has a good idea of what he wants to do with it.
He transformed an old airplane and a large plot of land into the most unique home on the planet.
Campbell has always enjoyed tinkering with old items and making new ones since he was a child.
His intention for this plot of land was to use it to build a home for himself, which he intended to construct out of various freighters.
It seemed to be a very innovative idea, but then Campbell learned about a home that had been designed by someone else. Bruce Campbell learned about Joanne Ussery, a hairdresser from Mississippi, about two decades after he devised his scheme.
She'd purchased a Boeing 727 and converted it into a residence. After her former home burned down, she decided to renovate a working airplane next to a peaceful river. Campbell was prompted to reconsider his intentions as a result of this.
And he made significant changes to them! Continue reading on the next page to learn how Campbell built a home out of an airplane and to see photos!
