The Volta Regional Coordinating Council has given notice to all squatters on its premises located at Ho, the capital of the region, to move out. In a letter dated March 15, 2021, the council has given the squatters up to Sunday, March 21, 2021 to peacefully vacate its premises.
The reason for the eviction is to enable renovation works to be carried out on Annex (4) and five (5) buildings at the residency. The facility has been allocated to the 66 Artillery Regiments under the Ministry of Defence to be used for Special Security Operations in the region.
The ejection order requests of all squatters to adhere to the directive without delay and hand over keys to the various places of occupancy to the Acting Regional Coordinating Director on or before Sunday, March 21, 2021.
Also, all persons residing on its premises have been informed to move out in order not to delay the commencement of the renovation works on the aforementioned buildings. In order to expedize the exercise, a special task force has been set up to facilitate the eviction of any squatter on the premises. Therefore, affected individuals must do well to abide by the order to avoid embarrassment.
The letter further stated that the Volta Regional Coordinating Council has not at anytime officially allocated to anybody any of the facilities and therefore, any person found at the premises will be considered an illegal resident or squatter.
