Irritate sympathizers of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) are still in the habit of expressing their displeasure against the Electoral Commissioner Chairperson, Madam Jean Mensa's verdict a couple of days ago. We will all recollect that the Chairperson of the commission declared the incumbent President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as President Elect.
Some ranking members of the opposition NDC such as the flagbearer himself, Ex-President John Dramani Mahama, General Secretary, Johnson Aseidu Nketia, National Communication Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, Director of Elections, Afriyie Ankrah and many more have all come out to vehemently and openly declared that they will never concede defeat. They described what had happened as a stolen verdict in favour of the NPP. In a series of press conference upon press conferences, the NDC has even called on their supporters to also jubilate.
This has caused a bit of tense and tension in the country. Not long ago, we witnessed a demonstration in Tamale whereby some supporters of the opposition NDC also went to the streets to burn tyres, fired gunshots etc... They claim the protest is a signal to the EC and the ruling government to vacate the post and hand over power to the NDC. They vowed never to stop until such wishes have been granted.
According to reports coming in just now is that, there is another demonstration happening now at Ashaiman. The protest was said to have started in the early hours of Sunday. The agitated supporters are burning car tyres. Personnel from the Ghana Fire Service and the Ghana Police Service have been called to the scene to control the situation.
Ghana Self-acclaimed Dancehall King, Stonebwoy has tweeted just now asking his Ashaiman people to calm down and let bygone be bygone. According to the Putuu hit maker, the only thing they can do was to vote and they've done exactly that. He pleaded on his people via a post on his Official Twitter Handle that they shouldn't kill themselves for any politician or a political party. He urged them to stay calm and keep the peace.
