The naming of a child is a very critical custom for Ghanaians. There is a great believe that the names have some impacts on human beings and therefore, care is taken when naming a child. Parents usually choose a meaningful name because they feel the name will follow them for the rest of their lives. The following are some of the names and their meanings:

Ansah - a person who is royal.

Donkor - a slave.

Serwaah - who is noble.

Acheampong - Attributed to be bearers of chiefs and also kings.

Addai - Means clouds.

Adekorato - Means treasurer

Agyei - a messenger of God.

Bediako - who came purposely to engage in war.

Agyeman - Came to save the nation.

Adiyiah - who encountered a lot of sorrow.

Odeneho - means one who is independent.

Bekoe- a child who came to fight.

Katakyie - a very strong man.

Abayie - child who came well.

Antobre - who never experienced hardship.

Abeberese - One who experience hardships.

Agyenim - A God given child who is very great.
