Gabby Otchere-Darko's Radio, Finally Has Its Own Saturday Show, to Rival Newsfile, Alhaji and Alhaji

Joy News and Lawyer Samson Anyenini have created a solid niche as Ghana's authoritative platform for stoking or bring finality to issues of national interest, as it hosts several leading voices who are experts on specifically selected topical issues of the week. Other talk shows are keen on challenging this fact, as TV3, Now defunct Radio Gold's Alhaji and Alhaji, and a host of Others take on the airwaves late Saturday mornings to lead the discourse of nationally relevant issues.

Well, Asaase Radio has no plans of been left out of this all important media space, as it has announced its own programming to take advantage of the leisure times of several hundreds of thousands. Lawyer Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, through his Facebook post has announced the commencement of the Forum tomorrow.

The Forum, they believe will be a insightful, factual and relevant and they succeeded in grabbing a rising legal expert Dr. Kwaku Agyeman-budu, clearly, to help bring the legal cross examining skills to bear in elucidating clear, concise answers and responses, as top lawyers are fond of in their court room practices, to bear in this seeming journalistic exercise.

Already, this is a trend that is already at play, with examples coming to mind being what pertains on Joy News and TV3's Saturday panel talk shows. Dr. Kwaku Agyeman-Budu was the sole legal expert for GTV's coverage of the just ended election petition, where he answered questions from the in-studio anchors, educating the public on the legal proceedings and offering his expertise to predict what may be expected of the lawyers and the court proceedings and with that experience, he may well have had a brilliant media experience to host his own show now and make it, if not the best, certainly amongst the core ones, that holds the nation's attention.

Kwaku Agyeman-budu is a Lawyer by profession and a legal academic. Since January 2013 he has been teaching various law courses at the Faculty of Law of the Ghana Institute of Management & Public Administration (GIMPA) in Accra, Ghana. In September of 2013, Kwaku established The Justice Foundation, an apolitical not-for-profit non-religious human rights organization, with the sole purpose of increasing access to justice in Ghana.

In this capacity, he has represented numerous indigent criminal defendants in the courts of Ghana on a pro-bono basis. Kwaku holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL.B) and a Qualifying Certificate in Law from the University of Ghana and the Ghana School of Law respectively. He also holds a Master of Laws Degree (LL.M) in International Law & Justice and a Doctor of Juridical Science Degree (SJD) from Fordham University School of Law in the United States.

Presently, he is the Head of Law Centers at the Faculty of Law, GIMPA, where he oversees the management of the African Center of International Criminal Justice (ACICJ) and the African Center on Law & Ethics (ACLE). He is also a member and coordinator of the Judicial Service of Ghana’s Internship & Clerkship Committee, where he oversees the placement of law students to the various courts of Ghana. His research interests include Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Intellectual Property Law, International Human Rights Law and International Criminal Law & Justice.

I will examine the show tomorrow with many others and see how it goes and we can only anticipate what social media commentary that may follow will sound like. Hands crossed.
