The Ashanti Regional Cordinating Council ( RCC) issued a press statement dated Wednesday, 15th September, 2021. The statement is aimed at directing all students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to vacate the University campus by Saturday, 18th September, 2021.
This directive by the Ashanti Regional Cordinating Council ( RCC) has become necessary as students violence and indiscipline have been on the rise. The statement read:
" Intelligence gathered by the security services reveal that, some groups of unruly students are planning some disturbance on campus on the eve of vacation. That is 17th September, 2021."
" With the exception of foreign students and students permitted by management of the University to stay, all students are to leave the KNUST campus by midday on 18th September, 2021".
The press release also declared that, security personnel, notably the police and the military would be deployed to maintain sanity in and around the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology as the place has declared a security zone since 2018.
"Security Personnel will be visibly stationed on the University campus to ensure peace and security and prevent any unruly behaviour by any of students"
